When you want to be a serious minded race enthusiast, you’ll find that gas powered radio controlled cars are right up your alley. While you can get them in hobby shops, gas powered radio controlled cars are far more than toys, and when you want to see realistic features and impressive speed and performance, you’ll find that this is the type of car for you. The gasoline run models utilize internal combustion engines and the result is some great speed!
There are plenty of affordable models to choose from when you are looking at gasoline powered radio controlled cars. The selection is one of the best features of this hobby, and even large gas powered models are gaining more popularity. You’ll find that the fuel engine sizes will run between .12 to .21 cubic inches, and while they are small, they are meant to run and handle with the same power, speed and momentum of a real car.
12 AA batteies are used to power your onboard electronics, and a glow plug, which has the same use as a spark plug, as well as gas fuel are used to run your car and start your engines. You can find models …

can I control my ipod using my cars radio controls if I plug it into the AUX input?
I have an iTrip but would like to control what song plays by skipping forward and back without having to fumble with the device.

Well what you can do if you are set on that type of control then you can get a special cable that you connect to your head unit and plug your iPod into. You can stop by car toys or another car audio shop and they’ll know what you mean.

I hope this helps!

The world of the radio controlled car, or RC car, can be an exciting one indeed, and it seems more people than ever are enjoying the power, speed and excitement that only radio controlled cars and trucks can provide. Many of us of course may remember those radio controlled cars and trucks we played with as children, and we may have fond memories of running those vehicles through the house, perhaps chasing the family dog, or the kid sister. When it comes to hobby quality radio controlled cars, however, things are quite a bit different.
For one thing, hobby quality radio controlled cars and trucks are quite a bit faster than those toys you may remember from childhood. Many electric powered radio controlled cars can reach speeds of 40 mph or more, while some of the best nitro powered RC cars boast top speeds of 70 mph or more right out of the box.
With speeds like this it is easy to understand why RC car and truck racing has become such a wildly popular sport. For many enthusiasts, racing RC cars provides all the fun and excitement of racing full size cars, without the significant risk and expense of …

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

The dawn of RC car racing began in the 1960′s when the first radio control system was available. The difference between a normal vehicle as we know it and a model RC vehicle is its size. These small “road runners” can be very fast and very precise. The innovations in the radio control system and in the model’s architecture, made them stronger, faster and easier to control.
Small nitro methane engines were available from the 40′s. In the mid ’66 El-Gi, (Elettronica Giocattoli) from Italy, released the first fully RC model. The car was available in shops in UK by December, the same year.
By the beginning of the 70′s a British company, called Mardave, began manufacturing RC models. They sold commercial models all over the UK.
In the early 70′s several US companies began producing models. Their products were at first 1/8 nitro powered kits. Their body was made of polycarbonate
The most popular model engine of those times was the K&B Veco McCoy. With the passage of time, producers took time to experiment with different types of heat sinks, engines, suspension types and larger fuel tanks.
US company Jerobee created in ’74 the 1/12 nitro Cox engine car. …

Radio Controlled Car Questions & Answers:

What is a good electronic radio controls car for someone new to rc cars. ?
I’m looking for a 200-600$ radio control car that can be modified if i want to make it better. Pleas no tycoo or anything like that, Thanks

It’s good that you have that much money to spend cause you’ll get great quality. You can spend lot’s of money upgrading most r/c models with tons of after market performance products. Take a look at www.traxxas.com Their electric models are the E-Bandit $185, E-Rustler $185, E-Stampede $185, Higher priced ones are the E-Maxx, Slash, E-Revo and soon the E-brushless Revo, The E-Summit is coming out in Jan. and it has working LED tail, head, and running lights for at night and that’s really cool. If you spend $185, then you get a “wound” electric motor and you need to buy a Ni-Mi battery (3000 to 4600 mAh for $30 to $60 plus a charger and get a better quality one, they are $50 to $150. The best electrics are the ones with brushless motors and they are much more efficient and run faster and longer. The Li-Po batteries are best for power and duration, but more expensive. If you get say an E-Rusltler VXL brushless model with a www.maxamps.com 6000mAh Li-po $130 or so, then it will do about 50mph and last long. You also must get a Li-Po battery charger. HPI makes great cars/trucks too, www,hpiracing.com . I have the E-Savage and like it, but it’s not brushless. www.horizonhobby.com is a great r/c dealer and mfg. Welcome to an awesome hobby, but careful, it’s highly addictive !! Hope this helps and good luck.

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

There have been many adverts on TV for remote control petrol cars, where you see a car dashing about with a big smile on the boys face and fantastic stunts by the car itself. What people do not realise is there is a lot more to a remote control car than just making it dash about either performing stunts or banging into objects. You will find that petrol cars (nitro cars) are faster and take more skill to control than electric cars.
As well as cars, you can also get trucks, planes, helicopters, tanks and general remote control toys.
Where these cars come into their own as a hobby is buying them and looking into how they work, servicing them or even fixing them or actually building them from scratch. Go into any major newsagents and you will find magazines dedicated to radio control cars, their design, build and tips on how to get more out of their performance as well as major meets where people can race their cars in races.
There are 1000′s of spares you can by online for your car when you decide to take your hobby to the level of servicing and fixing your own …

If you are among those that have yet to get a feel of what racing RC cars is all about, well – heres your chance to read a bit about the hobby – and it is never too late you know.
1. A wide rangeRemote Control cars can be operated from a joystick through wireless communication or radio frequencies. The models of remote control model cars can be as simple as the start – stop variety or as complex as the sophisticated ones that offer the similar maneuverability as the real full size racing cars, and everything in between.
2. Its for everyone! This hobby has got everyone from old to young to men to women to children interested in it. After all the skills that you require for this cannot be affected by age, as long as you are not a toddler. This is the best thing about RC cars – anyone can …

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

Radio control cars are basically scaled model cars. These models may be controlled from a distance using either a 2 or 3 channel remote control transmitter. If you are hooked on RC powered hobbies and are focused on RC cars your selection options are unlimited with RC car models. Types of RC cars that hobbyists or collectors may choose from include truggies, on-road cars, off-road buggies, minis, monster trucks, and stadium trucks. These RC car models may either be nitro or electric-powered.
Jet RC planes are among the RC aircraft types that have won the hearts of many people who are into radio control hobbies. RC jets come in different types. Some types are best for beginners while others may be flown only by experienced RC fliers. If you want to fly your own radio control jets, choose the model and type of RC jet you want to fly, but consider that price for many models may also be a factor. Some RC jets can be very costly, particularly the gas or nitro-powered models. Types of RC jets that you can choose from include gas turbine jets, EDF (electric ducted fan) jets, and prop-powered jets. Gas turbine jets are not …

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

Remote control cars aren’t seasonal toys that you must put away for those frigid winter months. Just move your RC playtime indoors, and keep on enjoying your hobby no matter what the weather does outside.
Electric radio control models are your best choice for indoor use. NITROs get too loud, and spew too much exhaust fume, for most people’s comfort.
Going electric only doesn’t force much limitation on you though. You only need to take a look at an RC website’s “all” remote control cars page to find that you have a huge selection of cars to choose from, not to mention a large variety of sizes.
In fact you’ll spend hours trying to decide which models you want if you don’t approach your selection process with a good idea of the style, size, and category of the car you want before you ever look at the vehicles available to you.
The first step in your decision-making is what style of remote control car you’ll look for:
* Classic cars include mustangs from the 1960s, camaros, challengers, chargers, and barracudas from the 1970s, street rods, coupes, the VW “bug,” and hot rods from the 1930s & 1950s. Choose an RC …

Owning and operating a nitro powered radio controlled car or truck adds an element of excitement and realism to this hobby above and beyond that provided by the electric RC counterparts. Unfortunately, it also poses some unique challenges. The one question that is posed to me the most often is ‘how do I start a gas powered RC car’?
Well, first of all, you need to assemble a few necessary items. These can be obtained either individually, or purchased as a package with or without your radio controlled car or truck. You will need the correct nitro fuel, a glow igniter, batteries for your radio transmitter and receiver, and a small screwdriver.
Have your glow igniter fully charged and ready to use. Make sure you have installed batteries in your controller (transmitter) and the car’s on board receiver. Verify that they are functioning properly by operating the steering, throttle and brake. After all, you want to be able to control your RC car once it is running! Fill the car’s fuel tank with the proper nitro fuel. Be careful – fuel is extremely flammable and toxic! Check with your engine’s manufacturer or your local hobby shop to make sure you …

The Challenging: Car is too delicate for extreme stunts. In a Nutshell: With front and rear suspension and a "turbo" accelerator, this car is unstoppable on most indoor surfaces. These miniature, remote-controlled cars are designed for all-terrain racing. View larger. Real Working Suspension With front and rear suspension, oval block tires, and a skid plate, this flashy red car is tough enough for all kinds of indoor surfaces. Kids can test the car's performance on carpets, uneven floors, or homemade obstacle courses. The controller/charger features steering control while driving in forward or reverse, a "turbo" button for acceleration, and a trim adjuster that optimizes steering. Recharge Car's Battery in 50 Seconds Before taking the Micro for a spin, an adult should help install the controller/charger's three "AAA" batteries (not included). An included instruction manual guides you through the process of aligning the Micro to the top of the controller to recharge the car's internal battery. A green light indicates the battery is charging, and in approximately 50 seconds the car is ready for up to 10 minutes of driving time. Conquer Any Indoor Surface Except for very thick shag carpeting, the Micro can drive anywhere in your home. To ensure straight driving, adjust a trim switch located on the car's hood. The controller's throttle and direction buttons control right forward, left forward, right backward, and left backward movements. Accelerate with Turbo Boost Need a little extra power to overcome an obstacle and win the race? Hit the "turbo" button on the controller/charger and send the Micro into overdrive. Each of the different Terrain Titans is wired to a different frequency, allowing up to four different Micro models to race simultaneously. Test your off-road driving skills on a tough, obstacle-strewn floor, against family and friends. The Micro may accumulate dust or lose its front wheels in a driving accident. Refer to instruction manual for the process of removing/replacing both the front and rear wheels. Adults may want to assist when cleaning the car or snapping the wheels back into place.
Radio Controlled Car Questions & Answers:

are remote control cars better than radio control cars?

Remote Controlled cars, could be wired or wireless, term is often used for TOY grade vehicles. These have non digital proportional movements, like the wheels only turn a certain degree, full left, full right and straight, and only has few steps of speed. Often slow and runs on AA batteries, they also dont have any available parts in the market if they break.

Radio Controlled cars are controlled by radio, using certain frequency assigned by FCC with multiple channels. These are linear or digital proportional, meaning your wheels will turn on how much you turn the steering wheel on the controller, its more precise. Radio Controlled Cars are more expensive, they are very fast, and sometimes complicated, they can either be electric with brushed or brushless motors, or Nitro or Gasoline powered.

There is an entire hobby world of Radio Controls out there, and National and International racing leagues to compete. Radio Controlled cars are sold in Hobby Shops, not in Walmart or Toys R us.

A radio controlled car could be bought as a kit to assemble, then customize the build by adding your own electronics, or aftermarket motors or engines. Parts and upgrades are available when something breaks.

Popular Radio Control brands are Team Associated, Team Losi, Tamiya, Traxxas, X-Ray, HPI, OFNA, Duratrax, XTM, Kyosho, etc.
