Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

The RC airplanes are of many kinds; made of different materials, have different flying abilities or may have different characteristics; in short it can be easily said that the manufacturer of radio controlled planes has to decide what should be its shape, characteristics and other technical things concerned with it.
You might have heard the word foam but you probably don’t have much knowledge of it. The literal meaning of foam is Expansion or blowing of something. It has been used as material for making many things for long time. It is being used in many objects as building material therefore the makers of remote control airplanes also took the advantage of foam by using it as material in their airplanes. The developers of RC planes have researched a lot to make use of foam possible in most efficient way.
The foam has become the part and parcel material of the RC airplanes these days with the advancements in technology and increased technical know how among the people to use the lighter material. The foam materials usually used in remote control airplanes are Depron, Zepron, expanded polypropylene (EPP), principal foam types etc. The key characteristics that normally make the foam …

Since almost the beginning of flight, RC hobbies have been around as an off shoot of Aero modelling. There is a tremendous variety of models and propulsion available when you begin your hobby in the RC universe. Everything must ultimately work together when flying RC planes and there are many aspects such as appropriate components, needed skills, handling wood and composite materials, mechanics, electronics, drafting and other aerodynamic issues in this exciting outdoor activity.
You can find fellowship and new friends if you join a radio control plane club in your community. Being operated by unpaid volunteers, you can find organizations that focus on radio controlled planes and radio controlled jets all over the world. Many club members participate in this hobby for years and never find it boring when working with the RC universe. There is a variety of interest in aero-modeling including those interested in EDF jets, ducted- fan- RC jets, ducted fan RC planes as well as edf jets. This hobby can appeal to people of different gender, age or nationality. One of the things providing excitement is every new RC model, whether it be for electric jets or model jets bring a whole new challenge to …

Electric RC model planes are fun and easy to fly and hence are most preferred to gas models. Electric batteries power these electric models. The batteries used in these planes are not the normal ones we get in the shops nearby. They are very special and have more power capacity than the normal ones. There are three main types of batteries, one can use for these model planes. These types are Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), Nikel-cadmium (NiCAD), and the latest one, Lithium Poly cells.
If you are new to the world of electric RC planes, you should first have an overall knowledge about the models, which are suitable for you. Before you buy your model, you should consider various factors. Firstly, since there are many chances of your plane crashing, while training, you should always go for the ones, which can be repaired easily. So, it’s important to buy a model with fewer parts, which can be fixed easily. You should also choose a plane, whose parts are easily available, so that you don’t end up dumping your new plane in the garage, just because its parts are not available in the stores. Your plane should also be stable enough while …

my radio control car (nitro) wont start?
i ran it out of petrol so i filled it up, primed the engine but it wont start. please help

Luckily model nitro engines are very simple in design, thus easy to diagnose. It’s a 2-stroke so fuel and air combine and the nitro methane ignites with the heat of the glow plug and compression of the engine. I can give you a much more detailed explanation if you want.

1)First check the glow plug by giving it power (connect it to the glow starter, if you use an ez-start then connect the blue wire only to the glow plug) and ground it by touching the cooling head of the engine or chassis, just make sure its metal.
2)If the don’t see fuel coming out of the exhaust then either it’s being ignited or there is not enough fuel, in this case put a couple drops of fuel directly into the carburetor.
3)Check the fuel lines for any leaks while priming the engine.
4)Is there enough compression in the engine? (can you spin the flywheel easily
5)There may be a leak in the carburetor which will cause the engine to be overly lean or erratic.
6)Set your needles back to factory settings.

If you still can’t start the engine then your going to have to give me more details like if there seems to fuel getting to the engine not (is it getting stuck?), will it “try” to start?

Any questions feel free to email/IM me.

Anyone planning to buy an RC model plane is excited about the idea. If you are a novice for example, you might have thought any model that comes with a radio device will do for you. But, buying RC planes is not just about getting any model and flying around in public parks. There are many things one needs to know. For this reason, it is important to always read reviews, before buying your model RC plane.
The first important information that you need to have and would find useful is to choose the right model, which best suits you. A novice cannot easily handle all model planes. Even if you are an expert, you may buy a model plane that is not fun for you. For those who are just beginning to fly, Park flyer and trainers are ideal for them. Then, there are glow plug engines, electric powered and sailplane aircrafts for those who have more advanced knowledge. There are jets, pylon racers, autogyros, helicopters, 3D aircraft and other planes, which can be flown for competitions and pose more challenging, while controlling, for those who are expert pilots. This information will be available, only if you read reviews. …

RC Electric Park Flyers are an awesome introduction to the hobby of radio controlled vehicles. An electric park flyer is a slower moving aircraft with much easier controls to master and a substantially smaller price tag than the larger gas/nitro RC planes. The price is a primary concern for the novice as many crashes can be expected while learning how to pilot the craft. Since the park flyers do not achieve the speed of a gas or nitro version they are less prone to disintegration and irreparable damage.
PLACES TO FLY
I recommend some backyard practice before heading to a Neighborhood Park and wowing the locals. Learn before you burn. RC electric park flyers do not handle winds of over 10mph very well and so this should be taken into consideration when choosing a destination.
PARKS
A local park is a great venue for flying but not all parks allow them (stay away from dog parks). Check with your local park board to determine where you can legally fly. Please, always respect other people in the park and never fly your electric park flyer near anyone or over their head.
GYMNASIUMS
This is perhaps the most ideal location for all …

Anyone with Radio controlled Nitro cars? Do you use after-run oil?
I just brought a .18 engined buggy and run Quickfire 16 fuel in it. Is it really necessary to put after-run oil through it when you have finished with it?

yeah, u should use after run oil really, i have 3 niro cars and dont use it but mines run most days, if you run it 1 or 2 days a week id advise it but run all the fuel out of the tank till it stops running first or ull end up with a jammed engine. and its not fun to put right! ive had to rebuild mates engines so many times its not funny!

Radio Controlled Car Questions & Answers:

What can cause a 27 MHZ radio control car to randomly move by itself?
The other day, after it drove forward a few ft for no apparent reason, briefly stopped, & then drove a few more ft, I assumed that the trigger was somehow malfunctioning & removed the battery (this was easier than removing the car’s batteries).
Despite doing this, throughout the remainder of the day & late into the night it would randomly drive in different ways — from several ft forwards or backwards to just lurching forward a few inches at a time &, later still, it began repeatedly (um, VIOLENTLY) driving back & forth rather fast.
I cannot find a “common denominator.” Neighbors live well beyond signal range & I’ve literally turned off all electronics & taken batteries out of everything & it still moves (I know I must sound NuTs BUT at least I haven’t resorted to shutting the house’s power off… yet). My logical side is beginning to weaken as I watch this thing navigate intelligently, as though someone is controlling it (backing itself out if it gets stuck under furniture, for example). It also coincidentally moves the second I finish telling someone about it & it only seems to move in front of adults — never around my 3yr old son.
Embarrassingly, this isn’t the 1st time something like this has happened. We have a stuffed animal that occasionally wakes us up at night, its lights flashing & its music playing without anyone squeezing its paws. We assure one another that it must be some random glitch but anyhoo… DOES ANYONE HAVE A SIMPLE “SCIENTIFIC” EXPLANATION?

The car is picking up random signals. Its happened to me on a few occasions years ago.
What metric are you using to say that your neighbors are out of range? The car is reacting thus its antenna is picking something up. Its a passive device and is not limited to a range on its own.
Interferences can come from anywhere. It could be down the block, miles away, or heck the sun, even.

It could well be that the biasing of the amplifiers or filter design on your car are such that make it more sensitive than typical. Or the random inference has more energy at your location than others. I believe CB radios can use that frequency also. So you just may have a radio (vocal, thus very random) signal being picked up on the RC car.

You think that is weird. I had my unplugged stereo and speakers talk to me in bursts at a respectable volume before. That scared the **** out of me. but I quickly recognized that it was just trucker chit chat …. I lived at the time about 1/3 mile from the high way.

Short of creating your own digital encoding/decoding algorithms and circuits and Frankensteining that car. It will happen. Just power down the car by flipping a good old fashion switch on it or remove the battery.

Cool! You just bought a new RC boat or maybe you’re considering a purchase – but where can you use your new goodies? This depends both on the type of boat and also on local ordinances. I will break down for you the best areas to use your boat depending on whether it is an electric RC boat, nitro/gas RC boat, or an RC sailboat. But first – no matter what – please do not use your RC boat near swimmers or large power boats. Powerful radio controlled boats can cause severe damage to human beings or can be completely ruined by a motorboat or jet ski.
Now, to determine where to use your boat you must know your radio transmitter’s range as well as your RC boat’s battery/fuel life. If you plan to use your boat in a very large pool of water, be sure to have a retrieval system ready in case you lose your power or run out of range. Secondly, know the cleanliness of the water. No matter what type of boat you have, seaweed can get caught on your propeller or your keel, bogging it down and possibly sinking it. If you really want to …

Many of the fast planes are designed for those who have had some experience at least of controlled a remote control plane and ready to progress to the next level up. The designs are very professional and give a high amount of performance and speed so ideally should only been flown in open areas such as your local park. Do bear in mind the safety aspects as there will be many people, families and animals in the area. Even though many planes are designed to be flexible when crashing, they can still be painful if they are to hit someone which is why experience is usually necessary.
More channels on the controller mean more planes can fly in the area without the signal getting confused between devices. The Warbird for example comes with a 4 channel controller and gives very precise and quick responses leaving you able to perform all sorts of stunts. Many websites give videos of these planes in action so worth checking out before buying.
For a park flyer, the Warbird is ideal due to it being a very nimble plane and its 370C engine giving it a high top speed so not for indoors. The aerobatics …
