Many people look at Radio Control Cars as just toys and sometimes they are near the truth. The main reason for that is that Radio Controlled Toys have in the past couple of years got
a LOT better in quality and even in performance.
This is not to say that Hobby grade Model “RC” ( radio control) Cars have lagged behind as they are certainly much more like driving a real car or truck than they were even 2 years ago.
There is not such a fine line any more between Radio Control Toys and Hobby Grade cars. Both are available as either 4 wheel drive or all terrain vehicles or as racetrack style cars for use on flatter surfaces or even paving stones perhaps even indoors.
The main differences now are on the engines and for toys these are usually electric andare powered mainly by AA or rechargeable batteries.
One thing to watch for is the difference between
Radio Control and Remote control remote control is usually a wire going from the car to the controlling handset whereas a Radio Control Car is not connected physically but commands are given by a wireless connection from free wireless transmitter …

Radio Control Car —can one survive being a dog toy?
My dog has gone nuts over RC Cars that kids bring to the park to play with. I’d love to buy him one, but I imagine that they are too fragile. Anyone have any experience in this arena want to advise me? Thanks!!!

Well does your dog want to use it like a RC car or just a toy car? Because I don’t normally see dogs using RC cars.

I think maybe you could just get your dog a regular toy car.

Or you can get a strong RC car maybe like a hummer truck or something and you control it and let your dog chase after it. Still that is risky because if your dog is big than he could still break it.

But if you have a small dog, you could probably buy him one but it woould have to be big and strong.

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

Many people confuse Gas Powered RC Cars with Nitro RC Cars.
So what is a RC Nitro car, you ask? Well, it is quite simply a remote control car that runs on a special fuel mix called “nitro”. It is the short for nitro-methane, the product of mixing lubricants or oil, methanol, and nitro-methane. The use of nitro is not limited to RC cars, however. It is also used to power boats, model airplanes, and helicopters. Only recently was it used to power radio controlled cars. Nitro vehicles are typically between 1/8 and 1/10 in scale.
With the introduction of nitro cars have become the ultimate “toys for big boys”. They’re not just the battery-powered toy-grade radio control cars you can grab from your local toy stores; they are the sophisticated mini vehicles that promise unprecedented speed. Nitro Cars have taken the remote control car industry by storm through its sheer mix of power and performance.
An RC nitro car also offers the advantage of doing away with the need of continuously needing to charge the batteries. Only a few seconds are required to get your vehicle back in the road since refueling does not take much time to finish. …

what is the best radio control car for offroad driving?
i am lookin for a pretty durable R/C car that can go offroad and take a beating. any ideas????

I have had three Traxxas Revo and there is nothing can touch one offroad. I raced for about three years are so and had a blast with them. If you get one make sure it’s a 3.3. If I may ask what do you plan on doing with it. Bash or run on a track? If you are just plying around with it then stay with it stock and you could add center diff and rear brakes, but if you want to wheelie don’t put in the center diff. it’s more for racing.

If you have anymore questions please feel free to email me.
I do have a new 3.3 engine a few other parts if you get one.

How fast are they really?
If your interested in buying an electric RC car then you likely have a few questions regarding what you can expect from them. The main question that arises the most kind of speeds can it reach. Fast electric RC cars, the ones that are tuned just right and have a custom engine are still no match to a gas powered RC car. You can realistically expect speeds of 30-45 MPH on an average electric RC car and 50-75 MPH on a more advanced and properly tuned vehicle.
Battery Life/Run Time
Another factor that should be considered before making a purchase is the battery life. The battery life on an average RC car will give you 15 to 20 minutes of run time – full speed. Some radio control cars will deplete energy faster depending on accessories like working lights, alarms and the like. Check the battery charge rating on the specifications sheet to ensure it will run on a single charge according to your expectations.
Space Requirements/Where To Race
Unlike gas powered RC cars, electric RC cars can be driven/raced in apartment complexes due to being slower and the reduced noise levels no worrying about …

Radio Controlled Car Questions & Answers:

What’s the difference between radio control cars, remote control cars and RC Cars?

Radio-controlled cars use a common set of components for their control and operation. All cars require a transmitter, which has the joysticks for control, or in pistol grip form, a trigger for throttle and a wheel for turning, and a receiver which sits inside the car. Remote cars are also working same as the radio controlled cars.

Remote control cars come in various styles, sizes, and designs for operation on paved, dirt, or gravel roads, sidewalks, carpets, and off road, rough terrain. When you’ve decided you’re ready for a new RC toy figure out where you want to play with that toy. That knowledge starts you toward selecting which type toy is best for you.
Among your choices are cars modeled after “road legal” real-life cars you see every day. Some are family models like the sport utility vehicle, station wagons, mini-vans, and the full size sedans. Others are young couple or single people cars including sports cars, Mini Coopers, Ferraris, BMWs, Porches, Camaros, Mustangs, and Mercedes. You also have a choice of military cars, police cars, and other service vehicles.
If you want off-road adventure you have plenty of options too. From low-end buggies to the ultimate in high performance vehicles, they all await your selection. Next you’ll look at size. RC minis are small, and designed more for indoor use than the larger models. For instance, a 1:18 scale radio control car is 18-times smaller than the full-size car it’s modeled after. That’s small.
On the other end of the ruler the full-sized car is …

Radio Controlled Car Article Snippets:

Fancy yourself as a model flyer or as a model race car demon? Radio control hobbies are amongst the most addictive probably because of the adrenalin rush you get! The sheer buzz of landing that warbird safely or taking that corner at speed in your drift car is one you cannot help but want more of.
Radio control hobbies are varied from beautiful yachts gracefully sailed on lakes to gliders silently riding the air currents and on to screaming drift cars and even huge model jet airliners. The common trait being they are all controlled remotely from a handheld radio transmitter.
Radio control models have been around since the 1950′s and getting better all the time with advances in circuit technology and battery technology allowing more and more dependability and control. As transistor technology has miniaturized and chips have become cheaper more has been achievable at lower power requirements. Modern RC models use 2.4 gigahertz transmission systems making them less susceptible to interference from other radio sources.
Before you leap into a purchase however there are a few things to think about and clearly these vary with the particular flavor of RC you are smitten with.
The intuitive remote control is shaped just like a steering wheel, and rotating it makes the truck turn left or right. Arrows on the steering remote light up to help the child understand which way the truck will head. Engine sounds and working headlights add to the realism of "driving" the truck, and a fun honk warns everybody that Billy is here! Requires: 4 x AA and 3 x AAA batteries (not included). Ages 2 years and up.<td></tr></table>

Model hobbies are things that children or adults can do which can be educational and have a lasting impact. One model that I had when I was younger was the skeleton of a dinosaur. I had to put the skeleton together myself. I also had model cars and model airplanes. The model cars and planes were not self assembled though, we purchased them already completed. After building my dinosaur, I played with it like a regular toy, making it viciously attack and kill the other toys. Later my dinosaur skeleton sat on the book shelf in my bedroom for many years.
A model toy or build it yourself model kit can be both and exciting toy to play with, along with giving someone a sense of accomplishment. Everyone likes to build things, and when you are done your model hobby makes you feel like you have done something constructive. It makes you feel good to know that you have built something or created something. You have made a difference in the world. You are an inventor, a scientist, whatever you want to be.
There are many different types of models that you can build. I have seen model airplanes, model …

Radio Controlled Car Questions & Answers:

I’d like to get my son building radio controlled cars. Is there a good kit for getting started in this hobby?
I’m looking for a kit that you build from scratch. He’s only 8, but can follow a manual closely.. he builds lego robot for ages 14 and up. So something that would challenge him a bit, but he could be successful at. Can you recommend one?

We always went to a hobby shop that specialized in that sort of thing for my brother and they had skill numbers on them. Also try Radio Shack. I know my parents got a few cars there but I don’t know how much work my brother actually did on them. I know that it cost quite the pretty penny to do the cars, and my brother and dad loved to demolish them shortly afterwards. They definitely have more power than the ones you get at the toy store. Remotes tend to come seperate though, but can be used for mulitple cars, and the chargers are also sold seperately. It was neat though because they would just go and get the part they needed to fix it. I can’t remember any exact brand names, but I know he built a mustang as his first and a few trucks, then got into the gas powered ones.

Edit
Try looking up Hobby Shops for your local area on Yellowpages.com

Here is a website for a local shop near me, you can order from there online http://h1070362.hobbyshopnow.com/products/categories.asp?tag=dir

A green light indicates the battery is charging, and in approximately 50 seconds, the car is ready for up to 10 minutes of driving time. Conquer Any Indoor Surface Except for very thick shag carpeting, the Micro can drive anywhere in your home. To ensure straight driving, adjust a trim switch located on the car's hood. The controller's throttle and direction buttons control right forward, left forward, right backward, and left backward movements. Accelerate with Turbo Boost Need a little extra power to overcome an obstacle and win the race? Hit the "turbo" button on the controller/charger and send the Micro into overdrive. Each of the different Terrain Titans is wired to a different frequency, allowing up to four different Micro models to race simultaneously. Test your off-road driving skills on a tough, obstacle-strewn floor, against family and friends. The Micro may accumulate dust or lose its front wheels in a driving accident. Refer to instruction manual for the process of removing/replacing both the front and rear wheels. Adults may want to assist when cleaning the car or snapping the wheels back into place.
Sure. But I wouldn’t advise trying to make the radio control from scratch. It’s a lot of work for something that you can buy for as little as $50 or less these days.

As far as the materials are concerned, you can get amateur grade RC equipment for cheap. If you want to go semi-professional or professional, I would suggest you check out wireless factory automation. There are a lot of industrial products which can do what you want and offer much more reliability and fail safe functions. In the end… if you put a camera for a quarter million dollars on a dolly, you might want to make sure it will survive someone using their garage opener in the parking lot… well, at least I would…

Manufacturers design remote control toys for a variety of age levels. As long as your child, or grandchild, has enough dexterity to operate the controls, there’s an RC toy out there to give that child a fun time. But sometimes you might wonder about the durability of that toy.
Over the weekend two of my grandkids blessed me with a visit. My eleven -year-old granddaughter, and five-year-old grandson spent both Saturday and Sunday at my house. The grandson didn’t bring anything to play with, so I got out a couple of radio control toys, a monster truck, and a racing car, and handed over the controls to the kids.
A few minutes later I wondered a little about my decision to turn them loose with those remote control vehicles. My grandson apparently thought that race car was destined for demolition derbies. He proceeded to drive that car into every stationary object he could hit, and he especially targeted the monster truck as his sister steered it around those same objects.
This particular race car has a designer’s designated operating age of 3-years and older, so I wasn’t prepared for how a five year old would operate it. My other grandkids, …

Will my household insurance cover the loss of my 26cc Radio Control Car?
I have just bought a 26cc radio control monster beetle (1/5 scale), and know how to get third party insurance (brca.org), but am unsure what would happen if it got pinched! The car and the accessories cost me over £500 second hand, but had I have bought them new, it would have cost nearer £1000. If anyone can shed any light on my dilemma, I’d be forever grateful!!

This will depend on your insurance policy – you need to check the small print and find out. You should look out for whether you have to declare individual items that are over a certain value.
