More powerful and fun than we expected!

In the words of my son (5 years old - I transcribed his words) ...

"It's more powerful than we thought and it drives through dirt and it goes on the back slope, if you don't mind getting a stick in the front wheel, maybe the rear one. It also has rear view mirrors that reflect. It can drive over your patio and it can get down the bump of your doorstep. And if you have rugs in the house, that are not too rough, then it can drive over that too. And it can drive around your family room rug and it can drive on your kitchen tile floor. And it can bump around your house and it can bump your toys."

Mom says: All in all, this was more fun and more powerful than we thought and expected it to be ... we would recommend it!

Dad says: This was pretty fun - much faster than I thought it would be, and it took lots of full speed head-on crashes right into walls and cabinets without any trouble. We will follow up on this review if it breaks any time soon, but so far so good - it's passed the 5 year old test! It does use up a lot of batteries, but I think they all do - this one may use more since it's pretty fast and we ride it on the carpet a lot, which I'm sure uses more power than flat tile or concrete.
Not just for little boys!

My 10-year-old granddaughter received this for Christmas. She had not asked for it, but it turned out to be the toy that she has played with the most. It is quite fast and maneuvers well in forward and reverse. The remote is comfortable and she adjusted to it easily. It has run into walls, been pounced upon by small dogs and it shows no signs of wear. An easy 5 stars for fun and durability. Even though it is not teaching her any subjects she might study in school, I give a solid 4 stars for educational value because it is great for eye-hand coordination and judging angles which should count for something!
Great little Jeep

My 4 year old nephew loves his jeep that looks just like his uncles. This is a great toy my brother and I were playing with it more than his kids on Christmas. The dashboard style controller is great and easy to operate. It held up to running into walls, furniture and other kids and kept going so this is as rugged as the real thing.
A Little Disappointed

I originally bought this truck for my 4 year old niece. It is sturdy and durable. I personally banged it into things to test it because I know how rough she can be and she has done a little banging herself. So far so good. It does ride well on carpet and even better on hardwoods or concrete. The controller is fun. It has a little steering wheel which really helps teach hand eye coordination.

The only reason it is not rated higher for me is that the range is not as great as I had hoped. It is nowhere near as great as the Hot Wheels Toyota remote control truck (the red one) I ultimately gave her. You have to be within 15- 20 feet of the truck to control it and what fun is that to have to run behind the remote control car. I even tried changing the batteries and putting fresh good quality ones in (Energizers) to see if that helped. Alas, no. Bt I will point out that in the 2 months I have had this truck here, the 4 year old does not appear to mind running behind the car and seems to have fun with this car but she does not play with it as long as I hae seen her play with the other one.

Regardless, it is fun enough for a remote control truck (and I destroyed the packaging taking it out to test it) so I am keeping this one over here for her to play when she comes to visit. The more fun Hot Wheels vehicle is a beloved toy at her own house.

I bought two of the Maisto RC trucks for Father's Day gifts: this one and the 1:14 truck for a few dollars more. I gave this one to my father and kept the 1:14 (before trying either of them out). When my dad opened his, it was l-a-m-e: it is slow and boring. The 1:14 truck that I had was awesome - it was everything you wanted in an RC truck.

I suggest you spend a few dollars more and get the 1:14 model.
