Radio Controlled Cars?
I have a Subaru Impretza Radio controlled car When I got it although it was a Kit car It had a pistol type Controller however this is now damaged beyond repair Could I go out and buy a controller like this (see link) and use it with the cars current Transceiver or would I have to put the one that comes with the control box in the car the car is 27MHz

Looking at the controllers you described, those are meant more for planes and helicopters. They may be more familiar or user friendly for you, but the controls are not compatible with a car. It is possible, but you would have to wire in your own controls for things such as brakes, reverse, and pretty much anything else that a car does and a heli doesn’t. It’s not worth the effort.
